Skarpenord Corrosion a.s is a private owned limited company.

The company was until February 2003 a subsidary of Jotun A/S (Jotun Cathodic Protection). As from February 2003 the ownership of the company was transferred to a management group and the name of the company was changed back to the original name; Skarpenord Corrosion a.s.

Experience

Skarpenord Corrosion has been in the cathodic protection business for more than 60 years offering products and services to the offshore, industrial and marine markets.

Skarpenord Corrosion has been a supplier to the offshore market since the very beginning of exploration in the North Sea Region and has for more than 40 years supplied sacrificial anodes for subsea pipelines, steel jackets, concrete platforms, subsea templates, mobile drilling rigs, FPSO`s etc.

Skarpenord Corrosion has through the last 30 years supplied sacrificial anodes to most of the major oil companies, operators, construction companies, pipe coating contractors, etc. such as Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Phillips Petroleum Company, Conoco, Amoco, TotalFinaElf, Mobil, BP, Shell, Saudi Aramco, Bredero Shaw, Aker Kvaerner, Heerema, ETPM-McDermott, Stolt Offshore, Technip Offshore, etc.

Skarpenord Corrosion operates a full comprehensive Quality Assurance System that conforms with ISO 9001:2000 and which is certified by the certification body DNV.

Services

Skarpenord Corrosion offers the full range of cathodic protection services and products for the offshore, industrial and marine markets comprising sacrificial anodes in zinc and aluminium alloys, grounding Equipment, cathodic protection engineering and design, inspection and service of CP systems.  

Production

The sacrificial aluminium and zinc anodes are manufactured by Skarpenord Corrosion in its own foundry in Fredrikstad, Norway.

At Skarpenord Corrosion`s foundry in Fredrikstad there are one aluminium and one zinc production line in operation. Both production lines have one melting furnace and two alloying furnaces. 

In addition to the production lines, Skarpenord Corrosion has a total storage area of approxemately 4000 m2, a workshop for production of insert steels, bending of steel tubes and welding work. Chemical analysis of alloys cast are performed in the foundry`s own laboratory by the use of a Thermo Fisher ARL 4460 Optical emission spectrograph while electrochemical quality control testing is performed and reported by the third party laboratory DNV GL in Bergen, Norway.
